"Basilonia" - A Message of Peace from Iraq

The contemporary art group exhibition featured thirty-five artworks made by artists from Iraq. On show, Ali Shaker Al Namaa, Mahmood Shubbar and Salah Alhasan. An homage to one of the most important schools whose tradition has undoubtedly influenced centuries of artistic production.

Ali Shaker Al Namaa  

Born in al-Hilla in 1972 and Fine Arts - Drawing PhD, in 2006 was Director of the Contemporary Art Pavilion at the University of Babylon, founding member of the “Fine Arts in Iraq” syndicate.

Salah Alhasan

Born in the City of al-Hilla, Iraq, in 1969, obtained a Master in Artistic Education at the University of Babylon. Member and vice-president of the “Fine Arts Syndicate”, he has held four solo exhibitions, the last one in 2008 in the Ishtar Fine Art Iraq hall. He has been bestowed a number of awards and participated in many group exhibits in Iraq and abroad.

Mahmood Shubbar

Born in 1965, he has obtained a PhD in drawing and works as a Professor at the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Babylon, since 1986 is Founding Member of the “Fine Arts Syndicate” in Iraq. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in Iraq and abroad. Two-times winner of the world prize at the World Festival of Fine Arts of the University of Egypt, his artworks can be found in Russia, Romania, Italy, United States, Oman and Syria.
